[SGVLUG] ATT DSL Gateway choices, which gateway do you like?

Charter DOCSIS 3:
Close to a year ago I subscribed to Charter Internet only (20Mbps
down/5Mbps up).
I've only used my own modem, though I remember being asked when I
signed up if I had a compatible modem.
I was watching Slickdeals, picked up a MOTOROLA SBG6580 SURFBOARD
modem by waiting until another store had a sale then price-matching to
Staples. If you don't need the wireless then there's a cheaper model.
DSL gateway:
I've used a Broadxent Briteport 8120 with Covad, which then was bought
by Megapath.
Sometime in there I tried AT&T. I think the Broadxent worked with
AT&T, but I can't remember for sure.
I see Southwest Bell used to use the Broadxent.
I've had a marginal line for years; AT&T didn't do anything to fix it.
I used to have a cron job running that would detect the line getting
problematic and reboot the gateway.
The S/N level of the Charter service is much better than DSL was.
Regards, Scott
