YES indeed!
 
tho it Depends on the system,

SOME Dells are OK and standard parts fit, others
aren't (for desktop, in general I avoid the 
Optiplex line.. non-standard MB config.. )

the issue with many of the new dell desktops
is that they minimize the cost of the system
by not including ANYTHING extra.. i.e. when
you build your own system the MB has ALL the
connectors.

I used to build all of my systems from parts
I would pickup at the swap meet.. but that
was when I would drop more than $1k on a desktop...
and had to deal with parts failures.. frustrating
to have to go to the swap meet to return / exchange
parts.

I found cases and power supplies to be a real
pain in the past to pick out.
