[SGVLUG] unstable ubuntu system

Hi,

Ok, I've installed Ubuntu on a older system
(pIII 600, 256MB Ram,.. ) and turns out the
system is unstable... while I was suspecting
the HD (as the other Hardware was stable before),
I thought perhaps it is not the HD...

looking at /var/log

I noticed:

Feb 19 21:00:52 tigerette parport0: INFO: open device failed; will
retry in 30 seconds...
Feb 19 21:01:52 tigerette last message repeated 2 times
[..lots more like the above..]
Feb 19 23:38:06 tigerette last message repeated 2 times
Feb 19 23:38:36 tigerette parport0: INFO: open device failed; will
retry in 30 seconds...
Feb 19 23:38:42 tigerette exiting on signal 15
Feb 19 23:40:27 tigerette syslogd 1.4.1#21ubuntu3: restart.

Hmmmm... noticed this behaviour multiple places...

What do you think???
