I know that Thinkpads used to be the go-to Linux-friendly laptops, but I
thought that might not be true after Lenovo bought IBM's laptop division.

So how does it work for you? Even if "refurb" is too scary for them (and
there are good reasons maybe not to steer them that way), I could end up
buying one or two so I can decouple my agenda of getting some kids some
programming time from the slow-track agenda of helping them do something
rational with computers (schools with ideas about computers terrifies me
because usually what I see makes no sense).
