Thank-you for allowing me to attend tonight. It was a lovely, classy building, in and out. The main speaker will generate plenty of discussion in the long run. It was so good to see you, and I look foreword to seeing every one of you soon.

ps. the pizza was the bomb, I feel guilty for stealing the 2nd slice, but if you know what it meant to me, you would see it as a dollar well spent. OMG. YUM. You made my month, and I owe you. Thanks!

I think your package looks fine the way it is laid out. Your using autotools. Its okay not to understand it completely, because I don't know anyone who does. I tried compiling it and it failed to find SDL, although I have it installed. So yeah its not completely right. You might want to consider CMake. You might find it easier to set up than autotools. Its my preferred build system and I believe its growing more popular. It has a bunch of stuff built in, such as a FindSDL routine. And there are plenty of modules out there for finding other packages.

    Hi James,

I didn\'t have in mind licensing or legal questions. More like a look at the GNU build system. Could look at it from the consumer\'s point of view, e.g. \"What happens when I do ./configure, make, make install?\" Or from the creators\': \"OK, I have a working app, now how do I use the autotools to create a publishable package?\" My own feeble attempt at this is online at www.desk-net.net (link at bottom of the page.) It works, kind of, but doesn\'t seem to be quite right. I don\'t believe I\'ve ever heard a presentation on how to do this.

That\'s a really open ended question. Do you mean in terms of how

you wrap things up to distribute it as open source? Are you wondering

about things like directory structure organization, build systems or

licensing? On Wed, Feb 10, 2016, at 03:01 PM, John Slayton

    Hi all,

We are expecting to meet at OpenX for February through April,

    because

that was the preference of our speakers. OpenX is a fabulous and

generous host with a large meeting space, good wifi and a great A/V

    system.

I actually really enjoy meeting at Du-Par\'s, and want to go back

there in May. It\'s relaxing and great for socializing with fellow

    LUG

members. At the last LUG, some of the guys were still talking till

    4am.

I am soliciting short talks that would appeal to the group in

general. For example, Jess did this great overview on Linux Desktop

environments a few meetings ago, that was a great hit.

Please come up with ideas of a talk you could give, or a talk you

    would like to hear.

My contribution: A brief demo on how to get started with Git and

    GitHub

    Thanks,

    Lan
