Hi all,

We usually have a standing reservation with Du-Par's for the 2nd Thursday of the month, but it is always good to check on it the week before LUG, so the room will be set up for us, and we won't have confusion with the server or a last-minute discussion about separate checks.

So could someone take an action to check in with Du-Par's and report back to the mailing list?  Preferably in person, so we can see the appointment book and talk to a manager.

They keep the reservations in a physical appointment book.  We have had some confusion in the past where they confuse us with some other tech group that meets at Du-Par's, which is why I like to look at the actual entry in the book.

The reservation should be for the San Gabriel Valley Linux User Group or SGVLUG for the Barrymore room on August 11th and September 8th.  They should list Lan as the contact.

It's good to remind/warn them about the following:

Even when we don't have a super-popular topic, we usually average 25-35 people.

We start around 7pm but some people come earlier.  Please take the orders as people arrive.  Presentation will start around 7:45 or 8pm.

  We expect separate checks.

Also, they are not always consistent in how they charge large groups.  Last month, they added an 18% gratuity to people's checks because we are a large party.  They have not always done so.  Please pay attention to your checks and tip appropriately.  I'm sure it's a challenge to serve our group, but they've been doing a pretty good job so far.

Thanks,

Lan

PS If you come early on Thursday, please make sure that the room is laid out appropriately and that the server knows to take our orders as they come in and give us separate checks.
