The links below were what I used to optimize mine; basically the biggest tweak is going to be in your /etc/fstab file - the articles show you how to do it but you need to add 'discard' to the ssd line (that enables ) and make /tmp a tmpfs, which means it's stored in ram. That will speed up any computer but it really helps extend the life of an ssd. You can usually do like 512M as the size and it'll interpret that as megabytes.

My husband just got a new laptop with a Solid State Drive.
He's planning to install OpenSUSE on it. We've read that with SSDs it would be better to have some different settings than with old school hard drives.
Does anyone have experience with settings better for SSDs?
