Subject: [SGVHAK] Update on upcoming meetings

Hi all,

There is no meeting on October 18th as we were unable to get a room at PCC.

We are fairly certain we can meet at a Pasadena library on Thursday, November 1st, from 7pm to 9pm, but we still need to wait a couple of days to receive e-mail confirmation of our reservation.  Informally, there is no conflict for November 1st.

We are reserving a meeting room at Hastings Library (Orange Grove and Sierra Madre Villa), which is near the Hastings Ranch area of Pasadena. This is an ideal venue for a monthly meeting for the following reasons:

1) It is pretty easy for us to have a standing reservation as long as we follow the meeting room policy and there is not a conflict with library or city events.
2) This branch library is open until 9pm and there is plenty of parking, both in the parking lot and on the street.
3) The meeting room is supposed to fit 35 people.
4) There are chairs and tables stacked in the corner, and a projector mounted overhead, with a VGA port in the wall.
5) The library should have wifi, though you may need to have a Pasadena Public Library card.

6) Hastings Ranch has a number of eateries, if we want to continue the meeting with a late dinner.

Here is the meeting room policy for Pasadena Public Libraries:
http://cityofpasadena.net/library/about_the_library/meeting_room_policy/

This doesn't preclude having extra meetings at other locations, but for the stability of the group, we need to have a regular meeting place and time.

We'll post more updates to the website and the mailing list once we know for sure about November 1st.  In the meantime, you can think about what you want to share and discuss at the next meeting.  We should have time to work on individual projects as long as you remember that you may need power strips and extension cords.  Please refrain from bringing things that might be disruptive in a library environment until we get a better feel for what is acceptable.  In other words, don't freak out the library staff or cause the patrons to complain.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Lan
