In actuality, there are evolutionary reasons, but it's taboo to say so 
because this is an issue of Fundamentalist Theology and science must bend.

BJ: Now we are really getting "OT." There is a lot of baloney out there about both. Years ago the California mandated framework for science educaton grades K-12 declared that science is hierarchy of philosophical concepts to be integrated with the hierarchy of philosophical concepts of the humanities, not an empirical endeavor as it is treated by working scientists. So science was mandated to be taught dogmatically rather than discovered by exploring phenomena.
