Hi,
I started off college at PCC myself. Trust me, they do not teach anything regarding Unix or Linux there. The may mention it as an operating system but that's about it.
I think the GCC course looks more promising.

Hi!
Yes Jason, I think having a place to put these sort of items up on a website is a great idea.
Matt and Miguel have quite a bit of work to get us started with a new website, and anyone interested in helping us with the website is welcome.. wait, ENCOURAGED to participate in helping make SGVLUG a better resource and group for everyone interested in linux/opensource and the associated freedoms.
We hope the updated website helps us create stronger "club" which will encourage more participation.
Thanks Miguel for the SMCC info!
note looking at the Spring classes at PCC I only found one linux/unix reference:
CIS 11
OPERATING SYSTEMS THEORY AND PRACTICE
3.0 Units
Prerequisite: CIS 10.
Operating systems such as Windows XP, Linux, UNIX ...
Otherwise, the classes look to be very heavily Microsoft based, or CISCO ( for networking ).
Thanks
Matti

Hello,
Community colleges are a good place to look. For example, MtSAC, in Walnut, offers a three class Linux “certificate” program. I’ll bet others are doing something similar.
matti, I think this topic has come up before. Maybe a FAQ on the website might be in order. ;-) And I hope to see you at SCaLE.
Cheers,
Jason
