Are you sure about the VIN data? AFAIK, the TPMS is a one way
communication (tire -> car), and there is no way the tire would know
the VIN of the vehicle it's on.

I haven't look too closely in how TPMS systems work, so I could be
completely wrong about this. And there may be other signals leaks from
a car. Also, there was an attack vector through TPMS presented at
Defcon a couple years ago (I just read the synopsis, haven't seen the
whole presentation).
