Hi,

Beware! Pass the word to your friends and family.

Just got off the phone with what I think was an Indian Scammer..
here's the basics ..

"Hello Sir, I am James calling from Windows Service Center..
your computer has notified us of unwanted junk files and ???? ( didn't understand him )
downloaded from the internet.. "

What? I am sorry I can not understand what you said, can you repeat..

[ basically the same.. still could not understand much better.. ]

I am sorry I did not understand your last sentence...

"your computer has downloaded errors and warnings from the internet which has
damaged your software and hardware .. online infection.. easier for a hacker to
use computer for unwanted..illegal activities .. I need you to login into your
computer so I can show you.. "

Where and hat number are you calling from?

"Micro PC care" 1-8..99..8368..513.."

1-899-836..

"8-5-1-3"

and your lastname

"Smith S-M-I-T-H" ( yeah right!!! and I am Obama! My Donkey your name is anything CLOSE to Smith.. )

Do you have a facebook page?

"what"

Do you have a facebook page?

"....."

Hello?

Hello?

well.. as I was writing this up I got another call.. probably the same mr smith
who redialed by mistake or the auto dialer redailed, as there seemed to
be no answer.

so please remember to beware! and let your family and friends know.

note, I encountered this with a user previously who allowed one of these scammers
to remotely connect onto their company laptop, thankfully the user figured out
it was an issue and we quickly quarantined the exposed system.
( the user got used to Indians manning IT service call centers and thus
had no issues with allowing them to intrude.. lol, welcome to globalizing
our insecurity. )
