[SGVLUG] open source manufacturing - Learning python & Free mugs

Relating to the open source manufacturing project,

I have a few mugs to give away.  They have various linux related theme and are the unfortunate byproduct of me trying my inexperience hands at mug dye sub printing.   If anyone is interested, I'll bring them to the next meeting.    They're printed on usa mde mugs, if that matters.

There's not a lot of takers on this project and frankly even I have my doubt, but I'll push on until I loose interest, or run out of time,  or run out of funds, whatever comes first.    The project website at www.tux-lab.com  was made with ruby/rails running on a xen/debian.   For the first small step, I am thinking of designing a set of light weight pedals, then machining it out of aluminum.   I am also trying to learn python through open courseware so I can better use the various open source cad/cam software/libraries.

thanks, and I apologize for the semi-spammish nature of this post,

John

Subject: [SGVLUG] open source manufacturing

Anyone is interested in open source manufacturing?  I am thinking of  building a velomobile, basically a recumbent bicycle with 3 wheels and a full fairing.   It's diyable with the potential of converting to a human powered hybrid.

Looking at my assorted half finished projects and the avr breadboard that never advanced beyond blink the led stage, I realized that what I want to do is beyond what I can do on my own so if anyone is interested in manufacturing the open source way where we design with open source software, open source the design, and minimize parts from non-free countries,  please let me know.

I am open to other projects as well.  I am located near Temple City and have some basic cnc equipment to get started.

thanks,

John
