[SGVLUG] boot drive what size??

So, I was looking at making a HTPC for a friend and they got this massive 3TB HD for a great deal. nice.. however the MB does not support booting from it.

SO, I was thinking about finding an old HD to boot from.

Question, WHAT is the size you would use to hold all non-data assets?

( i.e. OS and all programs would be on the OS drive. )

lol, seems like if I buy a new one, the best price/TB is about 1TB!!
but looking to save $40-60.
