Perhaps, but I keep running into problems with them.  Only Nvidia
seems to work well across the board.  Latest problem: running
Chrome on Valgrind on Mac *crashes the mac display manager*
if you have an ATI card, but not if you have an NVidia card.
And back on Linux, the Wine conformance tests pass on Nvidia but not on ATI;
ATI doesn't have time to fix their drivers

and the open source onces aren't good enough yet.
