[SGVLUG] Sweet spot for price/performance for new barebones system?

fyi -

watching slickdeals.net and sooner or later you
will see some really good prices for Dell/HP
systems listed... warning tho, if you to watch
it often, and when a good deal comes by jump on
it RIGHT AWAY.\

(hint on Dell, setup a dell account, and save the
base config before attempting to modify it.
SOMETIMES you can call the operator and order the
system after the deal dies on the web IF you
have it saved as if you were ordering it)

example of a great deal I just missed awhile back...

Vostro 200 slim case
intel e4500 (core 2 dual)
2 GB RAM
250GB HD
CD/DVD (sometimes dell just offers non
burners for their deals.. so watch out for this.. )
integrated graphics (intel.. ok)
20" LCD monitor 
w/shipping included
basic windows os (no linux option.. argh... )

for.. $359!!!

holy smokes.. I used to build my own systems,
but now find it more expensive than just 
waiting for a deal...
