   would  be  fine or, if you have to pay to join the group, your receipt
   could work as well.

for the LUG rate.  What exactly might you be expecting?  The idea
doesn't seem to fit very well with the very loose organization of most
user groups.  Neither the San Gabriel Valley LUG nor the Unix Users
Association of Southern California (both of which I belong to) have a
secret decoder ring, for example.  In fact, membership in either case
seems to be determined by who is on the email list.  It's hard to prove
that, though.  We could create a LUG PGP key, but it's hard to see how
you would verify that the public key is valid.
