If the CD is mounted under mepis, they should /be/ local.  You should
be able to change directory to the path to the jpg's, and then view
them with a jpg viewer such as ImageMagick's "display filename.jpg".

Makes me think I'm not understanding the question.  What software are
you wanting to use to view them with?  Are you wanting to address them
as local files or as URLs?
