[SGVLUG] [OT] Especially for Tom & his Prius.... [my rebuttal, then I'll shut up]

My thinking was corrected on E-85 and Brazil. Penetration there is due to
government saying what will be.

Also, it's a big success because they use sugar cane, it grows 4-6 ft, they
can use the entire plant, and it grows fast. Corn, you only can use 6-10
inches, you get a few ears per stock, it requires lots of fertilizer, and
pesticides it grows slower. And it's not the kind of corn you'd want to eat
either. Still, why hasn't the government pushed growing sugar anything in
the lower mid and south (Katrina/Renita areas) I would think it might help
these areas recover... Oh yea they still get Tobacco subsidies... And then
there is Big Oil ...

Brazil is a great success story they have almost 100% penetration of
at least flex fuel capable vehicles because ethanol/gas ethanol mixes
are much cheaper.
As for Toyota, Honda, and VW while the US is there probably there
biggest market it is not there home market and there home markets have
no interest in E-85 as they do not have a massive oversupply of corn.
Remember Japan and Europe buy most of there corn from that same
oversupply of US corn.

Funnily enough gmail was nice enough to put an add about palm oil next
this thread.
