Sorry, guys, for the messy calendar email. Having worked fine before
(Outlook to Outlook), I had no idea its format was such a mess.

Which is doubly disappointing, given I'm also running the latest version
(2003) with all the latest updates.

I will definitely turn off formatted text (I think it's RTF for Outlook
Calendars, but perhaps it's HTML; nonetheless, I've seen MS Word's HTML
is majorly gross; so if you're not displaying it on an HTML reader it's
not surprising to discover that the Outlook calendar HTML (or RTF) is
also really gross. Sorry.

I'm personally fed up with MS Word myself (mostly for the bloated HTML &
XML it produces, or huge file if you save prior versions; but also for
other reasons). I plan to switch to an XML format (as DITA, but
probably simpler) and an XML WYSIWYG editor as http://www.oxygenxml.com/
, saving to Subversion (which Oxygen does). But I haven't gotten this
setup yet.

I'm also pretty darn fed up with MS Outlook & Exchange, most especially
from learning that objects (called Items) don't have any permanent ID!
-- so, if not very careful, the links are easily broken (It's basically
like an SQL database using pointers to the "position" in the table of a
record, instead of to a fixed record ID field (the obvious ubiquitous
solution).) However, I don't know of a good Outlook replacement
(ideally with a real SQL database). So until I get something, I'm
living with Outlook because, gross as it is, practically everyone
converts to/from it, so at least I know I can likely get the data out
when I find a replacement. Know of any replacement?

Thanks for the ref to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICalendar#Microsoft_Outlook - I will try to
make sure these iCalendars are really iCalendars as well.
