Hmm...

Finally, a question I can answer. First, I assume you've turned off 
cupsd. If not, type "/etc/rc.d/rc.cups stop" then type "chmod -x rc.cups"

I'd also try setting apsfilter to the simplest defaults possible. Try 
using postscript, and try the "raw" options.

What kind of printer are you using?
