What's surprising to me about this is that Debian does not seem now to
have a kernel-source-2.6.x package for any x greater than 8. In fact,
I recently reverted from 2.6.11 to 2.6.8 for new compiles just because
of this. But your question provoked me to look at Debian pre-compiled
kernels and sure enough, they go all the way up to 2.6.16.

What's going on here? What am I missing? It looked to me like Debian
had recoiled from 2.6.11, presumably because of some trouble.

What's a good mailing list to be on to stay abreast of things like
this?

Some folks need to be able to see what they're doing, and
can't safely operate if there's a GUI blocking the view.
