PowerChute has worked great for me on Windows based servers in the
past. You can even get a hub and redistribute that power failure signal
out to several servers; if you have something big like the Matrix.

Linux has been tested on the following Linux distributions. :
* Red Hat
* Caldera
* SuSE
* TurboLinux (formerly Pacific HiTech)

Not on a Lynix system - have one on a Novel 5 server. It works great -
had a
power failure and the server was nicely closed. Shounl be pretty
stright forward
as I remember the install. APC is great for tech support - as I
remember there
is a phone for them (and a live person - don't think they went to India
yet).
Also there is a distributor in Northridge (as I remember).

Hi!
Ok - getting a new APC UPS with USB comm cable...
Question - has anyone setup a linux system to
shutdown with this unit?
the linux variant would be RH 7.3 (it is a server,
and I doubt I will have time available to upgrade it
significantly)
thanks
matti
