DSL Extreme has provided fair service to this site since 2004. Up-time
probably easily exceeds 99%, though accurate records have not been kept.
No phone service here from them. AT&T provides underlying DSL service.

The most serious issue was a weeks-long period of intermittent service
in 2007 characterized by intermittent static on the voice channel and a
positively weird interdependence between off-hook and DSL connection.
Perfect setup for finger-pointing between AT&T and DSL Extreme.

Up-sides

Trouble service can be done by email.

IP address can be static (and is, here).

No known port blocking, though opening SMTP port 25 both in and out
required request. In constant use are 25 SMTP, 53 domain, 119 nntp.

Reverse DNS is switched on (by request) so, for example, a
destination MTA can't use this as an excuse to reject mail.

Some of their service people are noticeably less incompetent than,
say, a Charter sales droid (but it seems that no really competent
person takes this kind of work).

Down-sides

They refuse to do encrypted email, even with customers.

They once breached their own privacy policy by allowing this site's
street address onto the Internet without encryption.
