Okay, so I'm getting ready to call TimeWarner to see about dumping AT&T DSL for faster upload speeds (768K upload is just too darn slow when trying to sync with the cloud, eg, Dropbox) when I get an email from AT&T offering to transition to their U-verse for free. Email says equipment is free, no mention of installation costs, but they will match or beat my current speed. I have their Elite which is their fastest residential DSL and get anywhere from 4 to 6 Mb down, 768 Kb up. I've been holding off making changes because I don't want to lose my static IP but if I can get just U-verse internet at a reasonable price without having to bundle TV or voice, then I may give them a try. Any thing I should ask when I call?

Everyone happy with U-verse? What kinds of speeds up and down are people getting?

BTW, I tried looking for pricing on ATT Business DSL and it looks like you can get as much as 6 Mb up but all I can find is starting prices at either $40 or $30/mo? I currently pay $46/mo and see that the current price for presumably new users is $35/mo. Anyone using ATT Business DSL?

Looks like TimeWarner wants $55 for Turbo with up to 20 Mb down and 2 Mb up or $65 for Extreme (up to 30/5). Kinda partial to TimeWarner since I know my TiVo's will work with their system and I'm happy with the channels we get now whereas I know ATT U-verse IPTV is not compatible with TiVo (connecting to their receivers via analog is not an option I will consider). So long term I'm more inclined to bundle cable and internet but I don't want to give up my hard phone line.
