Probably the best book for starting out is the <span>Evi Nemeth et. al. book:<br><span class="contributorNameTrigger"><a href="http://www.amazon.com/UNIX-Linux-System-Administration-Handbook/dp/0131480057/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327371971&sr=8-1#"><span class="contributorChevron" style="margin-left:5px"><span class="swSprite s_chevron"></span></span></a></span></span><br>
<br><a href="http://www.amazon.com/UNIX-Linux-System-Administration-Handbook/dp/0131480057/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327371971&sr=8-1">http://www.amazon.com/UNIX-Linux-System-Administration-Handbook/dp/0131480057/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327371971&sr=8-1</a><br>
<br>It's more for system administration, not web mastering.<br><br>The book, and some tight deadlines, should get you through your first year or two of sysadminning.<br>In the earlier edition (red cover) they warned you what kind of career you were going to get yourself into.<br>
I'm not sure if that's still in there.<br><br>This edition was made large enough to be used as a textbook.<br><br>Regards, Scott<br>
