Thought I'd introduce myself since last night was my first time at
SGVLUG, though I've been in the area and using Linux for a long time.
My name is Eric Hammond. I currently live in Arcadia and work in Santa
Monica a few days a week.

I've been programming since 1980, using Unix/Linux and the Internet
since 1985, the web since 1993, and have been building technology for
web startups in Los Angeles since 1996.

Startup companies have included: Citysearch.com, Stamps.com, Rent.com,
ThisNext.com, and CampusExplorer.com with occasional consulting for
friends at other startups.

I also run notlong.com which is one of the more popular URL shorteners
(though nobody compares to tinyurl in raw traffic).

My current learning interest is Amazon EC2 and I've built an Ubuntu AMI
if folks are interested in trying it out.

I'm not much of a formal speaker, but I would be willing to chat about
some of my projects or experiences if there are shorter time slots
available than 2 hours.

Not to start a religious war, but what Linux flavors are folks using
these days? I went from Slackware? to RedHat to Fedora and switched to
Ubuntu in 2005 and am absolutely loving it for both desktop and servers.
