Hi Dustin,<br>
<br>
I second what Terry and Ted have said about the Canon PowerShot series.
I have a two year old A70, 3 megapixels and I can print nice 8x10
pictures for framing. It has the same controls and adjustment
possibilities available in a good 35 mm film SLR. It is small enough to
fit a big pocket but big enough that I can firmly hold it and shoot
with one hand. The only problem I have with it is the accumulation of
tiny dust particles in the viewing panel at the back.<br>
<br>
Here are some reviews of the latest reiteration: <br>

<br>
The price looks very reasonable right now. Wow, it only needs two AA
batteries - buy rechargeables. Get two 256 or 512 SD cards (I noticed
they changed from CF) and that will give you enough for a weekend or a
week long trip (400 or 800 pictures).<br>
<br>
By the way, I have been a quiet member of this mailing list for a few
months now because I want to learn as much as I can about Linux from
those who actually use it. Thanks to all of you for all the very useful
tips. One day, I will have the time to attend the monthly meeting which
normally conflicts with some of the classes I teach - mainly Linux and
related apps and languages like Apache, Perl and PHP.<br>
<br>
Thank you again,<br>

camera?
The thing I found most annoying about the old one was the shutter delay
(the kid always moves before you get the picture), but I gather that
doesn't go away until you spend the big bucks for digital SLR. Since that
would pretty much decimate the laptop fund, I'm not doing that, but
inexpensive ones with less than usual delay would be nice.
