HI all,

Last minute reminder that SGVLUG meets tomorrow (Thursday), September 14th
at 6:30pm. We will be at IHOP (880 S Arroyo Pkwy, Pasadena, CA).
We'll be in the back room.

1) Carlos Meza is giving a talk on GitHub Actions.

*Speaker Bio:*
Carlos is a Python enthusiast and a DevOps practitioner with several years
of experience in automation, developer experience, and cloud-native
technologies. He organizes DevOpsDays Los Angeles, a community-driven event
that brings together DevOps professionals from different backgrounds and
industries. He recently attended PyCon 2023, where he met Sebastián
Ramírez, the creator of FastAPI, who inspired him to explore the
possibilities of using Python for GitHub Actions.

*Abstract:*
GitHub Actions are a powerful way to automate workflows and integrate with
other tools and services. In this presentation, you will learn how to
create GitHub Actions using everyone's favorite language, Python. You will
learn the basics of GitHub Actions, such as creating a workflow file,
triggering a workflow, and setting up secrets. You will also learn how to
use Python scripts and modules in your workflows and manage dependencies
and packages. By the end of this presentation, you will have a solid
understanding of how to use Python to create GitHub Actions that are
robust, maintainable, and easy to use.

2) For those of you who missed it, I had to cancel the BBQ due to a family
emergency. It has been rescheduled for September 23rd in the late
afternoon, and I'll send ou the RSVP form on Thursday or Friday.

3) The Call for Papers for SCALE is open until November 1st. Consider
submitting, or invite your favorite speakers to submit.

4) Additionally, we usually do something special in October, in
conjunction with Innovate Pasadena's Connect Week, which is Oct 23-28.

And of course, I'm always open to ideas for future meetings, whether it's
workshops or presentations. And how to organize the LUG itself.
