[SGVLUG] Linux on windows 7 ?

Hello to all! Since things are busy at work  & I added one more thing into my routine, & no time for Linux meetings, I decided to ask this to any and all who want to take a shot at this:

I have a friend at work that I gave 2 puppy linux Cd's. They don't work on Win 7, but the Ubuntu 14 I gave him does work. Why do you think this is the case? Bios? Boot up? Win 7 conflict with Linux? Or???
