I did some closer reading of the payment page and it seems like no matter the funding they WILL be offering linux-bootable sd cards that you can plug into the system, but the funding will help them dual boot it on the internal flash and get it released faster.

Hi all, I came across a kickass piece of hardware I thought I'd share with everyone - the PengPod. It's an android tablet ready to ship, but the company making them is doing something interesting - they're crowdfunding a version that will dual boot with a KDE touch based Linux. They need to raise $40,000~ by Dec 2nd to be able to fund the development of the Linux version, and if they don't meet their goal you're still guaranteed an android tablet (one that will probably use CyanogenMod!) so no vaporware here. It has good specs with a VERY good price point and it's available in either 7 or 10 inches. I've pre-ordered one; considering the average price of the tablet/accessories I estimate they only need about 500 people to sign up, and after a few articles covering it they've been selling at a good pace. They also
have an android-in-a-usb stick for sale. I'm pretty psyched so I'd love it if you signed up so they can make an awesome tablet that can actually be used as a fully-functional computer :)
