Actually, I've seen the DirecTV boxes send HD over HDMI and SD over
Component / S-Video / RCA simultaneously. The only HDMI capture cards I've
seen, which you could do pass through to the TV, have been $200+. I have an
ATi All-in-Wonder 550 that takes HD in through coax (I think... I don't use
it) and I got it for $40 from Fry's. Might be worth looking into.
