Hi folks,
I will be presenting at the Pasadena Radio Club meeting tomorrow (Tuesday)
at 7pm.

The talk is about amateur radio satellites, in particular the new Fox-1
satellite I have been volunteering on for the past year.

If you are interested in some of the amazing spacecraft amateurs have
built over the past 50 years, or want the low down technical details on
Fox-1, this talk is for you.

The AMSAT Fox-1 Satellite, with Braddock Gaskill
Pasadena Radio Club
24 July 2012

For over 50 years American radio amateurs have been building and flying
HAM
satellites. This has been the mission of the Radio Amateur Satellite
Corporation, or AMSAT, since the late 1960s. The next AMSAT satellite,
Fox-1,
will contain an FM transponder and a university experiment. It will
herald in
a new fleet of small AMSAT satellites that will provide communications to
HAM
operators all over the world for the next decade. The tiny four inch cube
satellite is due to launch in 2013. Braddock Gaskill has been a volunteer
working on Fox-1 for the past year. He will provide an overview of the
satellite, and insight into the team of HAM volunteers who are designing
and
building it.

Braddock Gaskill has been a volunteer member of the AMSAT Fox-1 team for
the
past year. He is currently owner of a small technology consultancy
working in
the fields of computational linguistics, hardware design, robotics,
geographic
information systems, and telepresence. He has publications in ballistics
simulation and space launch industry news, and has patents in
cryptographic
authentication, video conferencing, and various pending patents in
visualization techniques and spatial interface design.
