If you made it to a session at SCALE a couple years back hosted by fb, you would have know this possibility existed.
( BIG IIRC, please correct if you remember or know this better ;)  - fb has made a custom file system for pictures to help scale fb.. 

a direct link will display the picture. the security controls do not exist on this file system, the security controls occur on the 

users facebook page..the image server iirc has NO metadata/ownership/traditional file system access control info. )

Over 3 years later, "deleted" Facebook photos are still online

Interesting, .. have you heard of various attempts in India to force internet companies to proactively censor??
( i.e. think SOPA/PIPA and the like .. )
