If you are considering a Windows editing system virtualization might not be
the place to go.  Windows does not have virtualization support so it
requires support from the CPU and motherboard. Also editing is very IO, CPU
and memory intensive so you would have to overspec the machine further to
get the same performance.

If you are editing SD content any desktop machine will support light work,
but if you are doing HD, uncompressed video, or professional editing you
will want a more capable rig.
