Um..when you say replace the drive, do you mean that you have replace
the entire physical enclosure, or the hard drive inside the enclosure?

It could be the Lacie USB to drive controller/interface board.  If that
is bad then you will get funny responses.  A good test would be to mount
the drive using another enclosure, or with a IDE/SATA to USB cable and
power supply on the Windoze machine.
