[SGVLUG] Any Gentoo Fanatics around here?

The linux system with the barely-maintained website I've been asked to
help with is using Gentoo [of an unknown vintage...]  Obviously, the
user "running" the site [from her home DSL] wasn't scared of the command
line ;)

I hesitate to ask "out of the box, how would 'x' be configured?" as I'm
pretty sure there is no such thing as "out of the box" for Gentoo :) :)
:)  [yeah, I know -- it's slackware on steroids]

But... Am I likely to be "lucky" in that the "typical" way that people
would set up Gentoo would include placing the data files for a web
server under it's own partition?  (and/or other servers, such as postfix
or sqirrelmail)

What "gotcha's" am I going to find when attempting to update and
possibly re-configure a Gentoo system?
