Hey I didn't think about it either. I was actually surprised since someone
had told me that they only gave away the software at their "tier 1" events.
You have to stay on top of them and I've been lax lately. Sometimes these
events are sold out as fast as concert tickets and you never get the chance
to attend.

Aww, man, I hadn't realized that. Back when Matti first mentioned the MS
Heroes series the only remotely local event was the Anaheim one in April
which I missed. I didn't even think to re-check as I figured MS would be
very rigid w/their scheduling. Thanks for the tip!

Great idea, Matti (thanks again!). Back when I used to work for a software
company like 10yrs ago doing QA on enterprise level backup software, we used
to get the MSDN subscription, too. Talk about being buried in discs. ;)

You might do a search on upcoming MS events. I was surprised to notice that
the fulfillment web page for the SQL Server registration noted dates as
recently as a few weeks ago. Apparently there was another Anaheim event on
May 15th. It occurred to me that they might continue to do SQL Server
giveaways until they actually ship the product.

Awww, don't remind me, Matti. I missed out on /both/ events! :(
Would've been nice to have access to their new products, just in case I need
to test something out.

Oh well...but that reminds me, I don't have a dartboard. =P

       fyi - TODAY (6/2) is the deadline to signup for the MS SQL server
       eval software.

       [ gee, jumping thru all these hoops reminds me why I
       [ like open source software ;)

       btw - this maybe of interest to some... note this
       is an annual subscription iirc, so if you have to
       reinstall and get new "keys" after your subscription
       is out, you have to re-new.
