Well glad it is not just me, not being able to get DMA to work on CF
cards. I was trying to install linux on a 4GB CF card but the
installers just kind of hang with lots of DMA errors when I put the CF
card in an IDE-to-CF adapter.

Probably not an issue with SD sense it is a serial interface and would
need some type of controller device/chipset between it in the system
which would be the thing that would need to DMA. The issue with CF is
that is supposed to be accessible as and ide disk and the ide disk
mode is very broken on these CF cards, problem is manufacturers are
not testing the cards as ide disk only making sure they work in
cameras and CF-to-usb adaptors where they are either accessed in the
non-ide mode or dma is not tried.
