NTFS is not useful for a Linux partition.  The Linux installation
procedure should offer an opportunity to reformat it with, for
example, the ext2 file system.  Do that.

If L is a partition, it will not show up as a drive.  Use fdisk or
something (probably also available during the Linux installation
procedure) to confirm the partitions are as you intend, then tell it
to install on the appropriate partition(s).
