Some terminals are labeled "low radiation".  I once measured the
magnetic fields from dumb terminals and found that older ones from the
early 1980s had the lowest magnetic fields, well under what might be
dangerous unless you put your head right next to the side of it.
Later ones had less airspace inside the back cover and were worse but
still safe if you didn't get too close to them for too long.

Well, there's also x-ray radiation but it's quite low for monochrome
dumb terminals like I use.  And likely low for color monitors marked
"low radiation".

In a terminal room I found dangerous magnetic fields coming from a
large power transformer that people used as a desktop to read on, etc.
It was much more of a hazard than the dumb terminals.  But no one
would put up a warning sign as I requested.

I don't know about the flat ones as I only use antique hardware.
