However, the electricity loses energy when it is rectified from AC to
DC, during charging/discharging of the battery, inverted back from DC
to AC.  Thus you might only get back 70% ?? of the energy that you took
off the grid for storage.  This will significantly reduce the
"profit" (if any).

Due to drought in the Southwest US, there is excessive underutilized
hydroelectric capacity making it feasible to use cheaper hydro for
peak loads.  But gov't policies regarding hydro pricing are likely
poor.
