A few people expressed interest last time so here's some info on
another viewing of the International Space Station tonight, 8/18/2006.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is another ISS pass Friday night.....beginning 8:02 p.m.,
reaches 10 degrees of altitude at 8:04, reaches maximum altitude -
highest point is a whopping 83 degrees (90 degrees is straight
overhead) at 8:07, then drops below 10 degrees above the horizon at
8:10 p.m. That's a nice long pass.

Here's a link to heaven-above with Pasadena selected:

there's also an iridium flare about 7:55 pm, magnitude -9. yes,
that's minus 9 so it will be very bright if you can get to the center
otherwise it's only -0 in Pasadena and a +1 in Monrovia. guess you
have to go about 20 miles west.
for comparison at their brightest, the moon can be -12, Venus -4,
Sirius -1.5 and +3 for faintest star in urban neighborhoods.
