Two comments.
Step 4 wait for e-mail response [check spam folders...]. Open email and
open the indicated link in the same browser. This confirms your email
address is valid.
Steps 6 & 7 are also [optional].
[User Notes Client Certificate - Steps 6 & 7] Use the same browser (i.e. do
not use FireFox to create and later when your ready to install the
certificate use Netscape. It will not install.) If you want to use the
certificate on another browser, export it from the installed browser, and
install it on the other(s). The export will ask for a password when the
export file is created. So when it is imported to a different browser you
need to supply the password to install it. {A lot of the CAcert support
questions are about this problem. Mixed browser installs.} i.e Two months
from now you want to reinstall your certificate, and like above you will
mixup which browser you used, or you may have reinstalled your Linux. Now
you have a different browser. If you have exported your certificate, you
can import it. Or you will have to create a new certificate.

Subject: [SGVLUG] Keysigning Buzz part II -- CACert's
I've posted the details on how to generate a "Cacert" certificate on our
website. The condensed version is as follows:
1) go to http://www.cacert.org
2) click "join" to create an account
3) fill out the form -- it's tedious, but not overlong
4) wait for e-mail response [check spam folders...]
5) log into the site
[optional] edit your "details"
[optional] create & validate additional e-mail addresses
6) create a "new" certificate
7) "install" the certificate
8) download & print the WoT forms from the site (.pdf files with your
name already filled in)
9) print to meeting
10) profit [?]
