To keep accounts separate, I reserve a one-character field in the
mail-watch window for an account identifier. The window shows a merge
from all accounts of the most recent couple-dozen mails, and it's easy
to see at a glance to which account each mail belongs, along with the
minute of arrival, the From: address, and the subject, all in one line
per mail.

Other windows can be arranged so as to always leave a corner of the
mail-watch window showing. I use a 5x7 font in that window, so it
doesn't take much space. The merge from various servers is
accomplished by each being responsible for appending a line to the
mail-watch list for each arriving mail. Interference between multiple
asynchronous sources is dealt with by conventional interlocks. The
window can obviously be shown on any machine where you may wish to
monitor incoming mail.

The mail-watch window gives not only the account, but the From:
address and the subject, and is available at a glance; no need to act
upon a flag that has been run up.

But I'm not advocating anything, just bragging about how nice my setup
is :)
