[SGVLUG] 1-2U Rack Mount System for ~$500 Dollars?

I did buy two servers at different times from two different people and
everything is swappable between the two (read: Identical). If you buy a
used name brand server and stick to the same model then you won't have the
non-conformity problem.

A HP/Compaq DL360G3 is a DL360G3 is a DL360G3, and you can swap the hard
drives around between any of their models because they are standard hot swap
drives. You can do the same thing with Dell, IBM, Gateway, etc. Just pick
your favorite brand.

I selected the Compaq Proliant 6400R because it's an enterprise class server
(or was 5-6 years ago) that met the computing needs I have and will be rock
solid for several years to come for *very* little money when compared to
what even a new desktop would cost me.

Another place that sells used stuff that I have used before is Paramount
Computers in Texas. Costs a lot more than ebay but they warrant all they
sell. I believe it's http://www.paramountcomputer.com/. I bought a few
Compaq Proliant DL360G1's from them for around $500 each for spare parts.

Yes - ebay can be a good source. The only problem is the conformity of the
systems. It is too problematic when ever piece of hardware is different.
