my problems are not what others typically have experienced. there is a lot
of documentation on the net referring to what jeff spoke of. the logic board
and the graphics problem. my first problem was a line of dead pixels from
top of screen to bottom. to apples credit, after i called in friday
afternoon, they sent me a box for shipping. and i received it tuesday. i
dropped the ibook off at DHL on wednesday and the ibook was fixed and
returned to me the following monday. 5 days? not bad.

this time, the ibook just locks up hard. with reboots i can get 1/2 thur
bootup or completely logged in and it locks up again. after calling apple
support and trying to run hardware diagnostics (which we could not get to
run) they sent me another shipping box. off it goes.i have not had any of
the visuals people mention on the screen.

anyone with an ibook should be doing daily backups i guess. as one never
knows when it will die.

yes, i have the apple extended warranty. but, it still pains me deeply to
write this email on an sgi 320 running windows 2000. :(

looks like i need to come up with another portable computer to get my work
done, or wait until after the first of the year. i guess i could lug around
a mini tower and monitor.

jeff
